Two killed, four injured in Laurel County crash identified


Two people were killed in a two vehicle double traffic crash in Laurel County Monday night.

The incident occurred at around 9:30 P.M. on Old Way Road near London. Officials report that apparently a Kia Rio passenger car traveling northbound on Old Way Road topped a small hill and struck a southbound Honda Odyssey van head-on.

According to reports, both drivers were pronounced deceased at the scene and four other passengers in the Odyssey van were seriously injured. Two were transported to St. Joseph Hospital London, and the other two passengers who were children were airlifted to UK Medical Center in Lexington.

The driver of the Odyssey van who was pronounced deceased at the scene was identified as 38-year-old Jamie Gillam of London. The other passengers in the van were 46-year-old Kenneth Gillam, and three other juveniles aged 14, 11, and 6.

The driver of the Kia Rio was identified as 21-year-old James Dylan Johnson of London.
