In light of Pride Month this June, WBONTV spoke to a few people from the LGBTQ community regarding their experiences, and what this month means to them.
One of the interviewees, Wylie Caudill, said “There’s no pressure to come out during this month, but just know that pride is about knowing that you are allowed to be who you are, and you should have the confidence to be who you are. Pride should not scare you, it should welcome you.”
Another, Wil Bain, said that he “appreciates the amount of visibility this month provides to our community”. But, he continues “definitely do feel that it’s something that should be normalize.”
“it’s a party, but it’s not at the same time. It’s history, it’s violence, and there’s a lot of people who have sacrificed a lot, so that we can get to where we can celebrate,” Emily Sipes tells WBONTV.
