The Kiefer & Baisden family is one of the latest families for which the Habitat for Humanity of Madison and Clark County has helped to build a home. Before the home is built, the foundation is blessed with a prayer and volunteers write letters to be placed in the foundation of the home. The letters can be anything from a short message of encouragement to a prayer. Before the letters are placed into the foundation, people can read them out loud if they choose.
Habitat for Humanity of Madison and Clark County executive director Darcie Cunningham told us that the blessing is just the first step to growing a community and hope for families. She said that there are other opportunities for future builds in Richmond and Clark County, and welcomed families in need to apply to have a home built as the Habitat for Humanity wants everyone to have a decent and safe place to live.
