A ‘Big’ Fundraiser for Richmond’s ‘World’

A local business is currently donating 100% of proceeds from a specially-made T-shirt in honor of a local celebrity.

Kentucky Shelf Life in downtown Richmond was alerted to the fact that Anthony ‘Big World’ Mitchell was behind on his rent, and jumped into action.

According to owner John Perkins, he and his wife who own the local shop and printing business decided to do all they could to ensure that Big World would not be left homeless in the heat of summer.

Therefore, they drew up a design that integrates the Richmond mainstay’s namesake on cotton T shirts that will be sold at their shop and Dan’s Discount Pawn while supplies last, and will donate every dollar to Mitchell so that he will be able to keep his residency.

Perkins says Big World holds a special place in his heart, as he does in that of many Richmond residents, especially as Mitchell’s recognizable mural used to be painted on the side of his building where Kentucky Shelf Life is now located on Water Street.

Perkins says that the mural is now painted over, but he assures it was just to preserve the integrity of the building and business.
