In honor of the anniversary of D-Day and the invasion of Normandy, Wbontv.com compiled multiple interviews with veterans from the second world war.
In this story, we spoke with nearly 95 year old Retired Staff Sergeant from the United States Army Air Corps James Tipton. Tipton was a prisoner of war during the invasion, but says during the time they were made aware of everything going on.
His plane ran out of gas near the coast, and Tipton and his comrades were picked up by Nazis and taken to a camp in Austria. After 13 months, they were finally released.
He was awarded multiple medals for his trials, including a Purple Heart.
