After twelve years of productions, the Berea Arena Theater is being forced to close its doors. Eddie Kennedy is a retired the school teacher who had a dream of starting a theater after he retired and started the theater to fulfill his dream. When he was building the theater, he said he was funded entirely by community donations. He and his fellow community members did the work building the theater, knocking down concrete walls and setting up electronics. He said he will be sad to see the theater shut down after being a staple in the community. The theater might still survive, the city of Berea is currently discussing the idea of leasing the building so that productions can continue.
