It’s quite an honor for Berea. The Pinnacles were named as the best hike in Kentucy by Outside magazine. In the April issue, the magazine suggest readers can avoid the crowds of Red River Gorge and head to Berea, Kentucky.
In the article, the magazine says the Pinnacles topped the list in Kentucky for their beautiful views, proximity to Daniel Boone national forest and easy access to local attractions.
With this honor, Director of Forestry Outreach Center at Berea College Wendy Warren tells WBONTV that they hope to increase recognition and tourism to Berea.
The Pinnacles offer variety of hiking experiences but there are also a lot of other activities that visitors can do other than hiking, says Warren. With its tranquil atmosphere, visitors can have a picnic, use the amphitheater space, or participate in various activities that the Forestry Outreach Center hosts from time to time. Activities can be found on their Facebook page here.
Visitors are also invited to come up with any activities they would like to see at the Pinnacles. “We see ourselves as a community center. We invite people in the community to suggest programming they would like to see and take a lead on it…we can advertise that it’s happening here but it doesn’t have to be us taking the lead,” says Warren.
