An officer involved shooting occurred just before 4 P.M at a residence on Master Court in Madison County. According to a statement issued by Kentucky State Police, the Madison County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call regarding a suicidal subject. When deputies arrived on the scene, an unidentified individual confronted officers with a long firearm outside of the home. Shots were fired by the deputies and the subject was transported to UK Hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
It was reported that another individual was inside the home at the time of the shooting. KSP Public Affairs Officer Robert Purdy said that when officers are confronted with a firearm they have to act fast and consider the safety of themselves and individuals in surrounding homes. The suspect has yet to be charged and detectives will continue to gather information before charges are made. Trooper Purdy stated that officers have answered calls regarding the home in the past.
