Man allegedly under the influence causes disruption at Baptist Health Richmond


A man was recently arrested for causing an annoyance at a hospital and to the public.

The Richmond Police Department received a call regarding a subject with a needle in his arm. 34-year-old Jamie Purdue was reported as breaking into a house on Lowell Avenue while officers were looking for him. Police were able to locate Purdue at a side yard.

According to a citation, Purdue was constantly flexing arm muscles on scene. He was allegedly under the influence of drugs and was taken to Baptist Health Hospital in Richmond to be checked.

Purdue was reportedly causing a disruption and became allegedly combative at the hospital. According to officials, he was making noises and would not stop screaming. Purdue had allegedly removed his IV, and made a bloody mess all over the floor. He then allegedly continued by flashing staff.

Purdue was arrested and lodged at the Madison County Detention Center. He was charged with controlled substance public intoxication (excludes alcohol) and 2nd degree disorderly conduct.
