Mt Sterling Man Sentenced to 25 Years for Overdose Death in Jail


A Mt Sterling man has been sentenced to 25 years in jail by the U.S. District Court in Lexington for smuggling drugs into the Montgomery County Regional Jail.

The sentence was handed down Friday, April 26 after a plea agreement in Federal Court.

27-year-old Kloud Jones allegedly smuggled Fentanyl into the jail last year and transferred it to another inmate who died as a result.

The case was investigated jointly by the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, DEA, and the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
