The roadway from Baptist Health Richmond to Roy & Sue Kidd Way was shut down late Wednesday night due to a crash involving a motorcycle collision.
The incident happened around 7 P.M. and the roadway was reportedly closed for nearly three and a half hours.
According to reports, one person suffered serious injuries and was taken to UK Hospital. He was thought to originally incur possible fatal injuries but according to officials, he now suffers an extensive lower body injuries including his legs.
Madison County’s Deputy Judge/Executive told WBONTV that the vehicle that struck the motorcyclist was a Madison County Rescue Squad vehicle.
Madison County Rescue Squad is not affiliated with the county government.
The Richmond Police Department confirmed that the Rescue Squad had activated their emergency lights and ran a red light.
WBONTV is currently awaiting to hear from the Rescue Squad official for comment.
