Vapor Emission Detected at Bluegrass Army Depot


This morning, crews detected a vapor emission at the Bluegrass Army Depot during a routine inspection. A mobile monitoring laboratory detected the vapor during routine analysis of the atmosphere within a storage structure for sarin rockets.

A powered filter was connected to the igloo as a safety precaution to ensure the vapor did not leave the igloo and filtrate into the atmosphere. WBONtv spoke to Kelly McBride of CSEPP who said that there is no danger or risk to Madison County citizens or surrounding counties.

The Madison County Emergency Management Agency and the Commonwealth of Kentucky EMA were notified of the vapor emission, and you can see the press release below.
