Richmond Receives Funding for Sidewalk Project

In many parts of Richmond’s downtown, side walks are blocked by telephone poles, are uneven and even blocked by roots in some areas. The city will now be beginning the process of improving sidewalks to make them more accessible to citizens with disabilities. Commissioner Jason Morgan was one of the driving forces behind the project and said that he wanted downtown to be more accessible to all.

There was also an update on the chemical weapons stored at the Bluegrass Army Depot. Kentucky Environmental Foundation Executive Director Craig Williams showcased the methods that will be used to destroy the weapons and announced that destruction will begin in early June. The Madison County EMA will also have CSEPP staff on rotation twenty four hours a day during the destruction process.
