Man arrested after bicycle chase, river swim


A man was arrested in Clay County after reports say that he led police on a chase into a river.

Christopher Collins was found on a bicycle pulling a small cart at approx. 2:30 A.M Sunday morning. According to reports, when police tried to talk to Collins, he fled with his bicycle but crashed. He then jumped into the river.

Collins was found clinging to a tree branch. He allegedly attempted to swim away from officers.

He was taken to the Clay County Detention Center with multiple charges including 1st degree fleeing or evading police, failure to comply with bicycle safety regulations and no lights on bicycle.
