Ray McKinney has been running competitively since high school and has now qualified to run in the Boston Marathon. When he began running he never thought he would get to compete in such a large-scale event. McKinney qualified when he finished the Louisville Marathon in two hours and fifty-six minutes and nineteen seconds.
He hopes that his running can serve to inspire others. Ray said to anyone that hopes to start running to run at their own pace, and not to worry about others. Surrounding yourself with people that encourage you is something that is crucial to McKinney.
Ray also told WBONtv that he uses running as a way to relax. He said that running helps clear his head and that what he has learned from running has helped him in other parts of life.
