Richmond government officials and citizens were put behind bars today for the Hope’s Wings Domestic Violence annual Jail N’ Bail fundraiser. Mayor Robert Blythe and City Commissioner Jason Morgan were just two of the more than thirty people who volunteered to be put behind bars.
People come and donate money to pay for the jail birds’ bails. The money raised goes entirely to the Hope’s Wings Domestic Violence emergency shelter, which has housed over seven hundred woman and children. The current shelter needs more space and the money raised at this years Jail N’ Bail will go to adding extra bedrooms and a learning center to the shelter.
