Neighbors Clap as City of Richmond Cleans up Ordinance-Breaking Property

Neighbors stood by this morning as City of Richmond employees as well as police were on hand during the cleanup of a home on Parrish Avenue, against the will of the homeowner. This was reportedly a last ditch effort as the home is in near a condemnable state as there are no utilities hooked up at the current time. A large amount of furniture and refuse had also collected up, much to the dismay of the neighbors.

City officials report that warnings are first issued in these situations, and then fines are supposed to be levied by the Code Enforcement Board. However, WBONtv was told that this has not been done in the case of this house on Parrish Avenue, which even has broken windows and an unattached door.

Reportedly this home and the owner has come in front of the board multiple times, but nothing had been done until today.

City Officials report that it took 12 men and 4 flatbed trucks filled to capacity to haul a myriad of items off the Parrish property, including couches, furniture, and garbage that had been collected.
