Richmond City Commission Passes Amended Budget and Will Be Receiving Electric Car Charging Ports

The Richmond city commission has passed an amended budget for 2019. The amended budget the city passed will add $402,000 to the general fund as well as an additional $300,000 that will primarily be used for repairs and maintenance of Water St.

The city will also be receiving two car charging ports in the city hall parking lots. The ports will be installed and maintained by Kentucky Utilities at no cost to the city. Rob Minerich said that idea is to bring people off the interstate to charge their car and have them shop at downtown businesses while they wait. He said more ports may be installed in the future if these are successful.

It was also announced that the annual Main Street Clean Sweep event will be held on April 12th from 12 to 3. Bottled water, trash bags, and gloves will be provided. Volunteers will also receive a free t-shirt. more information can be found on the Main Street Clean Sweep Facebook page.
