Madison Southern Lady Eagles Head Coach Summer Simmons Steps Down

Summer Simmons as stepped down as Head Coach of Madison Southern Lady Eagles today to spend more time with her young family. She is mother To two beautiful girls. Summer was the head coach for nine seasons. She compiled a 126-140 career record at Madison Southern.

She came to Madison Southern in 2010/11 after playing her college basketball for Berea College. She took over a team that had finished 8-18 and loss in the opening round of the 44th district to Model. Her first season she led the team to a 9-19 record and a runner-up finish in the district. In her first five seasons she led the team to more wins than their previous seasons. Her 2011/12 team won 11 games, the 2012/13 team won 12 games. The 2013/14 team won 20 games with the 2014/15 winning 21 games and winning the 44th district championship. That season Coach Simmons led the Lady Eagles to their first win in a regional game over Lexington Catholic.

In her final season she led the Lady Eagles to another 44th district championship with a record of 16-14. In her nine seasons her team’s made the 11th region every season. In games against district rivals Coach Simmons had a record of 18-1 versus Model, 12-1 against Berea, and 6-11 versus Madison Central.

She helped revive the Lady Eagle basketball program winning two district championships and finishing runner-up seven times and we all wish her the best in the future.
