A Paris woman was recently taken into custody after she was allegedly observed by police passed out in her car from a potential overdose with a child in the back seat. Richmond police responded to the scene, where Madison County EMS had awoken 31 year old Jamie Conner (no mugshot available at this time) on North Keeneland Drive.
Officers report that she had multiple signs of intoxication, including slurred speech and being unsteady on her feet. Conner first denied using any substances but later relented and allegedly told officers she had used heroin. A search of the vehicle yielded items consistent with heroin use including a spoon with residue and multiple syringes.
A witness at the scene said it appeared that Conner was passed out, yet the car was moving when they informed authorities before attempting to wake Conner up and turned the car off. The child, a 5 year old, was taken to the police department and Child Protective Services.
Conner was taken to the hospital before being booked into the detention center on DUI charges, first degree wanton endangerment, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
