Police say they recently arrested a Richmond man and charged him with receiving stolen property, after they spotted an allegedly stolen vehicle. Officers report that after they spotted the vehicle, they saw several people entering an adjacent apartment building. Authorities report that 18 year old Brian Shanks and two females fled despite being warned not to. They report that Shanks got away but that the other suspects were captured.
Police searched the vehicle and found a shotgun with no serial number between the seat and console in plain view. The car was identified as a 2010 Mazda, valued at approximately seven thousand dollars. The two female suspects identified Shanks, who was later arrested and charged with receiving stolen property, fleeing and evading police and possession of a defaced firearm. He was jailed at the Madison County Detention Center on January 2.
