Drug Roundup Leads to 17 Arrests

Laurel County- 17 people were arrested Wednesday after a “drug roundup” carried out by the Laurel County Sheriff’s Office.

This was the result of a three month long undercover investigation conducted by Laurel County Sheriff’s Detectives James Sizemore and Bryon Lawson.

The London City Police, Kentucky State Police and teams of sheriff’s deputies worked together to obtain arrest warrants and set out Wednesday morning to make the arrests.

According to police, the suspects were charged with various drug trafficking and possession offenses.

1. Johnny Craig Sasser, 54, is charged with two counts of trafficking in a controlled substance. During the arrest, officials say they found suspected meth, and two firearms with the serial number removed.

2. Lona Counts Smith, 55, is charged with trafficking in a controlled substance.

3. Nettie Coldwell, 80, is charged with two counts of trafficking in a controlled substance.

4. Brian S. Smith, 36, is charged with trafficking in a controlled substance.

5. Michael J. Partin, 69, is charged with two counts of trafficking in a controlled substance.

6. Rebecca E. Mullins, 25, is charged with trafficking in a controlled substance.

7. Ricky L. Hubbs, 62, is charged with trafficking in a controlled substance.

8. Charlene Fox, 70, is charged with three counts of trafficking in a controlled substance.

9. James R. Woods, 55, is charged with five counts of trafficking in a controlled substance.

10. Tina Polley, 39, is charged with trafficking in a controlled substance.

11. Emily Taylor, 41,is charged with possession of drug paraphernalia; prescription controlled substances not in proper container. Officials say a hypodermic needle was found in a plastic bag with a white crystal substance.

12. Angela Marcum, 45, is charged with possession of a controlled substance.

13. Timothy Taylor, 48, is charged with violation of a Kentucky EPO.

14. Judi J. Proffitt, 43, is charged on a Whitley District Court bench warrant for failing to appear in court on charges of receiving stolen property under $500 and contempt of court.

15. Bridgette Wooldridge, 20, is charged on a Whitley District Court bench warrant for failing to appear in court for a pretrial conference.

16. Ashley N. Napier, 26, is charged on a Laurel District Court bench warrant for failing to appear in court for arraignment on numerous violations.

17. Kathy R. Rucker, 58, is charged on a Knox Circuit Court indictment bench warrant for manufacturing methamphetamine, trafficking in a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
