RPD Announce Traffic Safety Checkpoints

The Richmond Police Department announced that over the next three months, they will be conducting traffic safety checkpoints in designated areas city-wide. The areas have been chosen as they have proven to have a high volume of vehicle crashes at the sites.

Some of the locations that officers will be conducting the check points are Irvine Street, Main Street, the Bypass, Lexington Road, Lancaster, and Berea Road. The goal will be to increase police visibility, according to the press release, and to enforce traffic laws while testing for sobriety and seatbelt adherence.
