Indians Travel to Lafayette for Key District Match Up

The Indians (5-2 1-0) defeated Tates Creek 33-18 last week in the opening game of district play and this week they travel to Lexington to face Lafayette (1-7 0-1). Last week the Generals lost at Clark County 26-7.

In the win over Creek Derrick Miller only completed two passes for 30 yards, one of those for a touchdown but the Indians rushed for 277 yards and three scores. Freddy Chenault rushed for 122 yards and two scores giving him 679 yards and 12 TD’S on the year. In the win last week Jordan Hatcher was a perfect 3-3 on point after attempts and kicked a pair of field goals.

Lafayette opened the season with a win over Bryan Station and since then have lost 6 in a row. Last week the Generals could only muster a touchdown in the loss. On the year Lafayette has only passed for 162 yards total and have 520 yards rushing. To say they are struggling offensively is an understatement. Jaylen Lawson and TeAndre Newcomb lead the rushing attack with 218 and 211 yards respectively. When they are able to pass the pall Newcomb is their top target catching 10 balls. The Generals do have 10 sacks as a unit. Unfortunately as with the case with many teams that struggle during the season Lafayette has done a bad job of updating stats and that makes it tough to get an accurate idea of the team.

One thing for certain about this game is that both schools have been rivals for a long time and regardless of the records it will be a battle. The game can be heard on Y92.5 FM with the pregame starting at 7:10 and kickoff set for 7:30.
