On the 50th anniversary of the dedication of Berea’s old city hall, Mayor Steve Connelly dedicated the new city hall and fire station. Connelly spoke about the many projects and improvements Berea has seen in the last 50 years including the grand opening of I-75 and first factories in Berea. He also went on to speak about the new fire station. Some of the features he brought up are that the fire station is now big enough to fit all the city’s trucks into it at the same time, a new drive through bay so trucks no longer need to be backed in, and new bay doors that open sideways. Mayor Connelly joked that the doors will be useful after incidents in the past where the overhead doors were hit by fire trucks leaving the station.
