Shots Fired Call Leads to Dozens of Drugs, Weapons Charges For Owsley County Man


An Owsley county man is now lodged in the Three Forks Regional Jail and is facing dozens of charges, including drug trafficking and weapons offenses. Following an investigation by Kentucky State Police of shots fired, troopers responded to the scene of a residence near Booneville.


A van matching the description was located, with James Smith inside. Two guns, 19 grams of suspected methamphetamine, paraphernalia, and suboxone was located in the vehicle. When the home was searched, suspected methamphetamine, heroin, pain pills, and other firearms turned up. Smith was taken into custody and is looking at dozens of charges, as well as persistent felony offender.
