The Eagles come home Friday night for Homecoming against a foe they know well, the Maroons of Pulaski County. Pulaski County (3-2) enters the game on a 2 game winning streak. The Eagles (1-4) are coming off a loss at #4 Southwestern.
Madison Southern is looking to end the non-district part of the schedule on a positive note, Eagles have played 4 ranked teams in the first 5 games and Pulaski County received 2 votes this week in the AP poll. Last week we saw freshman Walt Smith come in after halftime and run the quarterback position with Tobias Storm moving to running back. As of tonight stats have not been entered by the Eagles coaching staff from last weeks game but even without those stats Storm ranks #10 in class 5A in rushing with 383 yards, he sits at 20th in the class in passing with 82 passing yards a game. Alex Knuckles is 22nd in the class in rushing. Eagles will look to continue to pound the ball on the ground against a Pulaski County team looking to avenge last season’s 60-21 loss at home to these Eagles, It was the first win in the series for Madison Southern.
Pulaski County will bring the leading passer in class 5A Wiley Cain. Cain is completing 64% of his passes and has 14 touchdowns on the season to only 4 interceptions. Jake Sloan leads the class with 47 receptions and 6 TDS. The defense of Pulaski allows nearly 33 points a game and against the rush they allow 150 yards a game.
