Madison Southern Looks For First Win On Road

The Eagles head to Lancaster looking for their first win of the season Friday night. It won’t be easy on the road, Garrard County loss at home last week to Powell County 21-20. There may won’t be an AP poll until after week two of the season but the computer rankings have the Lions ranked #16 in their class with the Eagles at #11 in 5A.

Last week saw the new look offense of Madison Southern look good at times but at other times it stalled out. With new players playing big roles this season everyone expected there to be some growing pains. Tobias Storm starting his first varsity game at quarterback was 5-12 for 46 yards. He did lead the Eagles in rushing 112 yards on 17 carries. Isiah Buttry had a pair of touchdowns on 17 carries and 48 yards. Alex Knuckles added 38 yards on the ground. Clay Tinsley led the receivers with 3 receptions and 31 yards. Jordan Casteel, Seth Shepard, and Xavier Strothman added a catch each.

Last week Garrard County fell at home to Powell County in a game that they didn’t complete a pass going 0-5. David Pennington led the rushing game with 17 carries and 136 yards, he scored two touchdowns. Jacob Hacker had 92 yards on 16 touches and Willie Rader added 35 yards.
