Congressman Andy Barr visited Richmond to discuss the economy as well as other issues affecting Kentucky. Barr was optimistic about the economy stating that the main issue Kentucky was facing was a shortage of workers. He went on to say that unemployment was at a forty-two year low due to reduced regulations and cut taxes.
Barr also addressed the opioid epidemic and said that Kentucky has the third highest overdose rate in the country. He also said that increased patrol on the southern border would help reduce drug overdoses in the country as many of the illegal drugs are entering the country through Mexico. He stated that Madison County in particular is working closely with federal law enforcement to fight drug use in the county.
Stay tuned for the full interview when Congressman Barr later visited the Wallingford Broadcasting studios for an extended interview with Bill Clary.
