Estill County Opens Season On Road At # 5 Paintsville


The Engineers open the 2018 season Friday night on the road at Paintsville. The Tigers are ranked number five in Class A, last season in Irvine The Tigers won 41-14. Estill County will be looking to replace Logan Beckler who rushed for 1193 yards and ten touchdowns along with nine two point conversions. While that is a lot of offense to replace there are a number of players looking to step up.

Junior Justin Stamper will lead the rushing attack this season, last year he carried the ball 122 times for 757 yards and 8 touchdowns. Clem Coben, just a sophomore, saw playing time as a freshman and had 202 yards on the ground with 2 scores. Senior Chance Edmonson returns after playing only four games last season. In those games he rushed for 105 yards and scored 2 touchdowns. On defense Senior Travis Donahue and Junior Eli Haskell are the top returning tacklers from last season along with Junior Micah Swims who added two fumble recoveries returning one for a touchdown.
