After months of work going through applications and reviewing candidates the Madison County School Board has appointed David Gilliam as Superintendent. Gilliam is a Madison County local who has worked for the school system since 1992. Before being appointed as Superintendent he was the Assistant Superintendent and Chief Academic Officer.
His contract grants him a salary of 132,900 dollars per year, reimbursements from the Kentucky Teacher’s Retirement System and other benefits. He said his goal as superintendent is to help Madison County Schools continue to excel in academic performance and to make sure that schools in Madison County are safe.
It was also revealed during the School Board meeting that Boonesborough Elementary will be open for the coming school year. The school board also approved the purchase of playground equipment for the school.
