Colonels will open on Thursday November 1st against Kentucky Christian in an exhibition game. The season begins on Wednesday November 7th against Marshall where Head Coach A.W. Hamilton played his college basketball. Marshall last came to Richmond back in 2016 with the Colonels winning 89-80. The Herd won the C-USA tournament and upset fourth seeded Wichita State in the tournament. EKU will go on the road to visit Chattanooga. The Mocs were 10-23 last season playing in the Southern Conference. Eastern is back home on the 13th of November to host Midway and then will fly to the Virgin Islands where they will play Kansas State in the first game of the U.S. Virgin Islands Paradise Jam. Kansas State won 25 games last year and went to the elite eight last season knocking off Kentucky in the tournament. After the trip to the Islands the Colonels will travel down I-75 to play Co Champion of the SEC regular season Tennessee. The Volunteers were a three seed last season in the tournament.

December first Colonels travel to play High Point and new head coach Tubby Smith. The Panthers went 14-16 last season and play in the Big South. Wednesday December 5th they return home to play USC Upstate from the Atlantic Sun Conference. December 8th Northern Kentucky will come to Richmond for the first time since 1992. Northern won 22 games last season including a victory over the Colonels and were the regular season Horizon champion. They played in the NIT last year. Colonels take a road trip to Cincinnati and play their toughest opponent Xavier. The Musketeers were 29-6 and one seed last season in the NCAA tourney. EKU then goes to Pittsburgh to face Duquesne in the two schools first ever meeting. The Dukes play in the Atlantic 10 and were 16-16 last season. EKU returns home to end the non conference part of the schedule against Brescia on December 29th.

A very competitive non conference part of the schedule should allow the Colonels to battle tested before beginning OVC play. Follow WBONTVSPORTS on twitter for all your EKU news!
