Robert Hammond is the new Athletic Director at Madison Southern. He replaces Calvin Creech who stepped down after last season. Hammond is a former coach who as been an AD before. He has over twenty years of coaching experience.
His first coaching job was in Bourbon County where he was on the staff of the 1997 State Championship team. He was in Paris for six seasons where he also coached track. He left Bourbon and headed to Clark County for a year before heading to West Jessamine where he was Head Coach of the boy’s basketball team that advanced to the final four of the state tournament. He went on to Bracken County where he was head coach and athletic director. He comes from Letcher County Central where he had been for the past eight years.
Robert has family in the Berea area as his mother and father have lived here for five years and he has a sister who teaches in the Madison County School System. One of the things he is looking to bring as the Athletic Director is getting the youth involved in Madison Southern athletics. Whether it be special halftime shows or recognizing the youth leagues during games he plans on getting them involved. Be sure to stop and introduce yourself to Mr. Hammond when you see him at the games!
