The Kentucky League Of Cities held their annual meeting at the EKU Center for the Arts.
Richmond’s Mayor Jim Barnes is also the president of the KLC, which is why the meeting was held here in Richmond.
During the meeting, mayors from across Kentucky discussed issues that are affecting the people in the cities across the Commonwealth. Medical marijuana, the opioid epidemic, and of course the pension crisis were just some of the issues discussed.
The KLC decides on issues and then brings them to Frankfort in hopes to influence the way state legislators will vote. Mayor Jim Barnes said that the legislators are often receptive of their requests.
