Estill County Softball Players Earn All-State Honors

A pair of Estill Softball players earned All-State honors this week. Senior Lindsay Wood was named second team after helping lead the Lady Engineers to the State Tournament for the third time during her four seasons. She hit .520 her senior season (51-98) and scored 47 runs. She had two home runs knocked in nineteen, and added seven doubles. She also led the team in stolen bases with 31. Her 47 runs scored were 23rd best in the state, and her 31 steals were 15th best.

Kaylee Covey was named Honorable Mention All State for her season. Like Wood she went to three State Tournaments. She hit .292 on the season with a pair of home runs. She scored three runs and knocked in twenty two. As a pitcher she was courtesy run for so that accounts for the lack of runs scored. She added six doubles and a triple from the plate but her primary work came from the mound. She went 20-12 on the season with a 2.96 ERA. The twenty wins were good for ninth best in the state. In 187 innings she allowed 191 hits and 108 runs. Only 79 of those runs were earned against her. She struck out 247 hitters while only walking 35. That is an amazing seven to one ratio! Congratulations to the these Lady Engineers for on their outstanding seasons!
