The Indians (28-7) last played Monday, they defeated Bryan Station 3-0 behind great pitching from Lucas Myers who didn’t allow a hit and Cameron Travis who came in relief and allowed one hit. Unfortunately weather came in and Woodford County and Lexington Catholic could not get their game in. Fast forward to Tuesday and Woodford County (25-6) upset top ten Lexington Catholic (20-11) 3-1 to reach the semifinals. This is the first time since 2012 that all four district winners advance to the final four of the region. That season Woodford County went on to win the State Championship.
Of the four teams left in the region, Scott County is number two, the Indians are number five, and Lafayette comes in at number seven. Don’t count the host team Woodford out as they have won twenty games and will have the crowd support. Indians and Yellow Jackets have met once this season, the regular season finale for Madison Central back on May 15th with Central coming out on top 8-2. The game was played in Woodford County. According to those in attendance the game was close through out with Central pulling away late.
Semifinal action will be Friday June 1st with the Cardinals and Generals playing at 3 and Central Woodford following. Championship game set for Saturday with the time to be announced.
