Indians Roll Into Region On A High Note

The 44th district baseball championship was played tonight as the defending district champions, Model Patriots (10-17) played host Madison Central (27-7). The Indians finished the season ranked number seven in the state of Kentucky.
The Patriots got a one out double in the first from Casey Brandenburg but he was stranded in scoring position. That was something that plagued Model in the early innings, they would get runners in scoring position but couldn’t bring them home. Madison Central got on the board first with a run in the second inning but Model answered that with an unearned run in the third to tie the game.
Jacob Tharpe started the game for Model and he went three innings allowing seven hits. He gave up three runs, two of those earned and struck out two. He was replaced on the hill by Zach Long, and Long was ineffective. He faced three hitters allowed three hits and all three came in to score for the Indians. Indians win 10-1 over Model and will advance to the 11th region tournament next week in Woodford County as the district winner. Model also advances to the regional but will have a tough road as the district runner-up.
For Model Cruse Pingleton had a base hit, Brandenburg with a double, Taylor Hill with a single and stolen base, Luke Keck adds a base hit. For Madison Central Trey Eden went 3-4 with a pair of doubles and he knocked in four runs. Logan Thomason with an RBI triple, Scott Simmons a pair of hits and an RBI, Ben Snapp with an RBI single and a SAC fly, Jeremy Cox with a pair of hits, Bryce Travis added a single and double.
