On Thursday March 8th, the Richmond Fire Department dedicated their new engine with a hose down. The tradition of hosing down new engines dates back to the seventeenth century.
The new truck will soon be used as a primary engine for the fire department. The truck it will replace will be used as a reserve engine in the future.
With the addition of the new engine, Richmond’s fire safety rating will increase. Richmond Fire Chief Robert Carmichael hopes to have the cities rating raised from a three to two in the future.
The new engine can transport five fire men and can hold seven hundred and fifty gallons of water.
