An EKU graduate was found dead outside of Chicago with his ex girlfriend in an apparent murder-suicide. The incident occurred the morning of January third, just north of Chicago, where officers discovered a man and a woman shot behind a business in a parking lot. 33-year-old Ryan Zike, an EKU graduate of Recreation and Park Administration, was dead at the scene.

The woman, 27-year-old Claire Vanlandingham, was discovered with multiple gunshot wounds at the scene, and still alive. However, she passed from her injuries at the hospital. According to investigators, the two had recently broken up and the shooting resulted from an alleged domestic dispute.
