Continuing with the WBON-TV’s ‘Meet Your Public Official’ Series, Marisa Hempel went to meet up with Coroner for the county Jimmy Cornelison, who explained that there is a lot more to his job than some people may realize. Jimmy says his phone jangles at any time of the day or night, as if there is any out-of-the ordinary death in the county, he has to be on scene to check it out. He also described a cold case he was able to dig up and get insight on, which is just one of his many prouder moments in the office.
Cornelison explains that he is a Madison Countian through and through, and that after serving time in Vietnam he was in EMS for years, which he has a passion for that transferred into his run for County Coroner. During his time he met his wife, who is a nurse, and they got married and raised a family together.
One of the things Cornelison mentioned that he does in his spare time, sometimes daily, is make pottery. He picked up the hobby when he was young as his family owns a pottery business.
