Berea Woman Dies 2 Weeks After Alleged DUI Crash


LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) – The Fayette County Coroner confirms that a 22-year-old woman injured in a DUI crash has passed away from her injuries.

Brianna Cowden was clinging to life nearly two weeks after the crash occurred. The coroner says that she passed away Friday at UK Hospital.

The crash happened on Battlefield Memorial Highway on October 27. According to Madison County Sheriff’s officials, Dylan Casey, 18, was driving a Chevrolet Trailblazer with passengers Audrey Alleruzzo and Kenneth Houlihan. Cowden was driving a silver Scion when the two vehicles collided head-on.

Alleruzzo and Houlihan were transported to Baptist Health Richmond with minor injuries.

Casey was arrested and charged with DUI 1st. Casey received additional charges of Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree and Assault 1st Degree. He was lodged in the Madison County Detention Center.
