This Sunday, August 27th, is the 11th anniversary of the Comair Flight 5191 plane crash. The crash, after lengthy Federal Aviation Administration hearings, was declared to be due to pilot error after the wrong runway was used for takeoff. The shorter runway was used for takeoff, making the plane crash at the Lexington Bluegrass Airport as the runway ran out before total takeoff. 49 people died in the tragedy, including six Richmond residents. WBON-TV visited the memorial site at Gibson Bay and Lake Reba and spoke to Richmond Mayor Jim Barnes about the memorial and the memories that live on for the six individuals that died.
