On Wednesday, August 23, 2017 at approximately 1:30 pm the Powell County Sheriff’s Office received a tip about a possible Meth Lab located 51 Greenway Road, Stanton. Sheriff Danny Rogers, Detective Larry Patterson and Deputy Kevin Babcock responded to that location. When officers arrived on scene they noticed a plastic tube coming out of the front window of the home. Officers approached the window and immediately noticed a strong chemical smell and observed a one -step Meth Lab sitting in the window. The plastic tubing was coming from the inside of a plastic bottle (Meth Lab) leading out of the window. The wind was carrying fumes from the Meth Lab directly toward the Pooh and Pals Day Care Center. It was less than a 100 feet from the children’s play area to where the Lab was sitting in the window. After a search of the residence another active Meth Lab was found inside the home. Kentucky State Police arrived and disposed of the two labs and charged 35 year old Renea Ritchie of Stanton and 56 year old David Bascom of Richmond, Kentucky with Manufacturing Methamphetamine 1st Offense. More Charges are pending. The subjects were taken to Powell County Detention Center. Both individuals are innocent till proven guilty.
