EKU Freshmen Walk the Walk

Today on EKU’s campus, the Welcome week activities continued to gear up both new and old colonels for the coming school year.

WBON-TV’s Nolan Pettit went onto campus for the festivities, including the Freshmen Welcome Walk which has new Big E students stroll through campus starting at the Turner Gate. President of the University Michael Benson says that in this second year for the new tradition, faculty and staff welcome incoming colonels and get them excited for what should be the most memorable years of their lives.

He expects a successful school year, and says this has been the biggest turnout for the Big E Walk. Benson also promised free food and music leading up to the 5 home football games that will take place this year, and said that the new facilities and dorms are exciting changes that have been finishing up all summer. 1600 new parking spaces and beefing up of the buses will also shuttle students to class quicker for the 2017-2018 year.

Stay tuned for the drone footage from welcome week, as well as interviews with EKU colonels before classes kick off on Monday!
