Shooting in Estill County NEW UPDATE



According to Channel 18 and Trooper Robert Purdy, Kentucky State Police is searching for the suspect responsible for critically injuring one man in a shooting Saturday morning.

KSP was called to the scene around 9 a.m. They say the victim pulled into the parking lot of a garage where he does work on Elmer Richardson Road, that’s when the suspect pulled up and started shooting.

They say the suspect was last seen around Stacy Lane. He is described as a white male, heavy set, late 30’s – early 40’s, wearing jeans and a jacket. He is from Estill County.

The victim is from Madison County and was flown to UK Hospital with life threatening injuries.

KSP says there is no threat to the public.

(Updated) The suspected shooter has been arrested and charged with Assault 1st Degree. He will be lodged at the Three Forks Regional Jail.

(UPDATE) Kentucky State Police identified the suspect as Steven D. McDowell, 35, of Irvine.

Police placed McDowell behind bars at Three Forks Regional Jail. he faces a first degree assault charge.
